Biography

Evans Mirageas is an independent artistic advisor to symphony orchestras, opera companies, festivals and individual classical music artists throughout the United States and Europe. His current institutional clients include The Brooklyn Philharmonic, Cincinnati Opera, The Handel and Haydn Society of Boston, The Milwaukee Symphony, The WDR Symphony Orchestra of Cologne and The Pasadena Pops. Individual clients include conductors Semyon Bychkov, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Andreas Delfs and Sir Roger Norrington. In addition, he is an award-winning record producer, lecturer, interviewer, presenter, and awards panelist.

From 1994 to 2000 Evans Mirageas was Senior Vice President of Artists and Repertoire for the Decca Record Company Ltd. during which time he signed Renée Fleming, Angela Gheorghiu, Andreas Scholl and Matthias Goerne to exclusive contracts. He also supervised the recording activities of Luciano Pavarotti, Cecilia Bartoli, Sir Georg Solti, Riccardo Chailly, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Radu Lupu, and Jean-Yves Thibaudet among numerous others.

From 1989 to 1994 he was Artistic Administrator of The Boston Symphony, working with Seiji Ozawa to plan the winter subscription season in Symphony Hall, the summer festival concerts at Tanglewood, tours and recordings.

Evans Mirageas's radio career began in 1973 while still a student at the University of Michigan. He was an on-air host and live broadcast producer and in 1982 was hired by radio station WFMT in Chicago to help create a nationally syndicated program series previewing upcoming events in classical music. While in Chicago he also produced the national radio broadcasts of The Lyric Opera of Chicago, The Philadelphia Orchestra and The Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, among others.

His professional life in classical music started in 1967 at age thirteen as a part-time, after school salesman for the renowned Liberty Music Shop in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Evans Mirageas was born in Ann Arbor to Greek-American parents and graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1976.
